Scuba Diving

“I am but a single drop but together we make an ocean”

I fell in love with the ocean at an early age on Swanage beach. Waves breaking over my head made me squeal with delight and feel free and alive…a feeling I have never forgotten.

Later, I took an Open Water Scuba Diving Course at Swanage Pier and became fascinated by its mysterious subaquatic creatures, enthralled with beautiful underwater scenery and graced by a sense of wonder, calm, peacefulness and stillness in the water.

I care deeply about the ocean. It’s often described as ‘the lungs of the earth’ with 70% of the worlds oxygen produced from it, our planets climate regulated by it and billions of people relying on it to breathe, eat, work or live. Yet only 3% of the ocean is protected. I hope to inspire others to help look after our ocean. It’s our planet, our future, our responsibility…and our time to get involved.

As well as diving, I enjoy other water sports including snorkelling, body-boarding, jet-skiing and swimming but my real passion is underwater photography. The creatures which dwell under the waves are the true ‘jewels of the ocean’ for me. Add a wetsuit, some fins and a cylinder and how could a girl not get hooked?

So here I am; a dedicated ambassador of the ocean, with a passion for underwater photography and burning desire to continue my underwater adventures. I hope you’ll join me and dive in!

“There is nothing quite as exciting as photographing nature”

I had my first experience of underwater photography during a shore dive in 2017. It was thrilling experience and added another dimension to scuba diving I’d never imagined; I could capture what I was seeing, re-live the experience after the dive and share the beauty of the ocean with others. I was immediately hooked!

My dream to become an underwater photography instructor came true in September 2019 in sunny Bonaire, so I could finally start teaching underwater photographers to beginners to develop their skills and capture their own underwater images.

Capturing the beauty of the ocean through images is extraordinarily rewarding and I love helping others get to grips with their cameras. To be a good underwater photographer you need good buoyancy skills, patience and practice. If you would like to learn, please get in touch. The courses are delivered through an affiliated local dive centre, with theory sessions online to learn and review images.
